Bacterial Communities and Culturable Petroleum Hydrocarbon Degrading Bacteria in Marine Sediments in the Northeastern South China Sea

چکیده

Marine oil spill pollution was one of the factors affecting marine ecology northeastern South China Sea (nSCS). The submarine produced after had a long-term impact on microbial community in sediment. In this study, 16S rRNA genes high-throughput sequencing and quantitative PCR were used to study composition distribution bacterial communities deep-sea sediments; meanwhile, petroleum hydrocarbon degrading bacteria isolated, which activity detected. Proteobacteria Planctomycetota main phyla found samples studied study. 29 strains capable hydrocarbons isolated from S02 S39 sediment samples, belonging genus Stenotrophomonas , Pseudidiomarina Sulfitobacter Pseudomonas Halomonas so on. Strains degraded efficiently. This research provided new insights into pattern benthic nSCS, validated degradation potential by indigenous bacteria.

Generalist hydrocarbon-degrading bacterial communities in the oil-polluted water column of the North Sea

The aim of this work was to determine the effect of light crude oil on bacterial communities during an experimental oil spill in the North Sea and in mesocosms (simulating a heavy, enclosed oil spill), and to isolate and characterize hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria from the water column. No oil-induced changes in bacterial community (3 m below the sea surface) were observed 32 h after the experi...

Biodiversity of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria from deep sea sediments of the Middle Atlantic Ridge

The bacteria involved in the biodegradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in deep sea subsurface environments are largely unknown. In order to reveal their biodiversity, sediments from 2.2 m under the bottom surface at a water depth of 3542 m were sampled on the Middle Atlantic Ridge with a gravity column sampler. The sediments were promptly enriched with either crude oil or a mixt...

Investigation of Hydrocarbon-degrading Microbial Communities of Petroleum Hydrocarbon Contaminated Soils in Harghita County, Romania

Microorganisms able to degrade hydrocarbon pollutants (gasoline, and other petroleum derivatives) have been isolated from two contaminated areas (Sândominic and Bălan) by enrichment technique. The hydrocarbon degradative capacity of contaminated sites were determined using “Biometer flasks” (respiratory CO2 production measurement). Total counts and hydrocarbon degrading counts were determined u...

Marine Group II Dominates Planktonic Archaea in Water Column of the Northeastern South China Sea

Temperature, nutrients, and salinity are among the important factors constraining the distribution and abundance of microorganisms in the ocean. Marine Group II (MGII) belonging to Euryarchaeota commonly dominates the planktonic archaeal community in shallow water and Marine Group I (MGI, now is called Thaumarchaeota) in deeper water in global oceans. Results of quantitative PCR (qPCR) and 454 ...
